Grove City Christian dominates at home

GROVE CITY, Ohio (WOUB) – The Grove City Christian Eagles took the lead and never looked back as they beat the Fairfield Christian Academy Knights 47-12. The stands were packed to watch the final game of the regular season and celebrate senior night.
Fairfield would start with the ball and would make their way downfield until Colton Stanely picked off Brayden Stem of the Knights to put the Eagles offense on the field. In less than a minute, QB Douglas Housley would keep the ball and walk into the end zone for seven. Fairfield would march down the field and have the chance to answer, but after some confusion, wouldn’t be able to put anything on the board. From there, it would be quick work for Housley to connect with Josiah Harmeyer for a big play, before Giovanni Cotton finished the job to extend the Grove City Christian lead.
The second quarter would continue to bring action, as Stem sent a deep ball that would be caught by TJ Blair in the end zone for their first points of the night. Cotton and the Eagles would answer in no time at all on another hand-off touchdown. Stem would answer right back, and with 51 seconds left in the half, the Knights were only down 21-12. However, Housley would lead a drive downfield that would result in another touchdown with nine seconds left to make the score 28-12.
After half, the Eagles continued to build their lead. The third quarter would include touchdowns from Bennett Cook, William Fillinger, and Harmeyer. The defense stopped the Knights from scoring this quarter and came away with an interception thanks to Harmeyer. The fourth quarter would fly by thanks to the running clock and John Gibson would seal the deal when he came away with a pick that let Grove City Christian take it to the buzzer 47-12.
Grove City Christian finishes this season at 8-2, while Fairfield Christian Academy ends at 5-5. Both teams are waiting to see how their playoff fates shake out.
