NELSONVILLE, Ohio (WOUB) — On Thursday evening, the Lady Buckeyes (4-10, 3-4 TVC-Ohio) faced the Meigs Marauders (2-11, 2-4 TVC-Ohio) for the ending of a busy week for Nelsonville-York.

The Lady Marauders kicked the match off with Taylor Johnson’s two close-range shots, but a Buckeye offense headed by Madi Pidcock came together to tie the match. Pidcock’s pair of deep three-pointers highlighted the quarter, taking the lead 11-6 after the first quarter.

The Lady Marauder defense showed their effort throughout the first half, but the Buckeye defense continued to find open ground. Nelsonville-York spread out their offense, allowing Maeslyn Call, and Pidcock to each shoot clean three-pointers. The Lady Buckeye defense gained momentum, holding the lead to 21-16 at the end of the first half.

Both offenses struggled in the third quarter with missed shot attempts, but Meigs’ Shelby Yost brought momentum to their offense with a high arcing three-pointer. Cam Jolley and the Buckeyes made sure that it was the Marauders’ only score, as Jolley’s pair of three pointers led the Buckeyes to a 32-19 score by the end of the third quarter.

Yost started off the quarter with another clean three-pointer, but the Lady Buckeyes could not be stopped, as the offense lengthened the margin thanks to Call’s successful play in the paint. A late-quarter three-pointer by Pidcock sealed the match, and the Lady Buckeyes took the victory by a score of 48-36.

The Lady Buckeyes even out their conference record at 4-4, improving their overall record to 5-10. For the Lady Marauders, they fall to a key TVC-Ohio opponent and drop to 2-12 overall.

Nelsonville-York will take a well-deserved break for the weekend and come home on Monday to face South Gallia. Meigs will look to come back from tonight’s loss as they take on the Marietta Tigers Monday evening.
