NELSONVILLE, Ohio (WOUB) – Larry & Joe bring their genre-blending, bilingual energy to a Sycamore Session recorded during the 2025 Nelsonville Music Festival. The duo — made up of Venezuelan-born multi-instrumentalist Larry Bellorín and Grammy-nominated North Carolina musician Joe Troop — draws from old-time, bluegrass, and Latin American traditions to create music that feels both rootsy and urgent, balancing virtuosity with warmth and humor.
Their set opens with “Una Casita Bella Para Ti” before moving into a spirited take on the traditional “Goin’ Down the Road Feelin’ Bad,” showcasing the pair’s ability to reimagine American folk standards through their own rhythmic and melodic lens.
Across five songs, including “The Dreamer,” “Caballo Viejo,” and “Ya Volveré a la Sierra Blue Ridge,” Larry & Joe weave Spanish and English lyrics into stories that reflect movement, memory, and resilience, inviting the audience into a set that feels as communal as it is technically impressive.

The Sycamore Sessions are presented by the Nelsonville Music Festival in collaboration with WOUB Public Media and the Ohio University Scripps College of Communication’s School of Media Arts and Studies. The videos are created by Media Arts and Studies students under the guidance of Producer and Host Josh Antonuccio, Audio Supervisor Adam Rich, WOUB Arts and Culture Editor Emily Votaw, and Director of Photography Andie Walla. All performances were filmed during the 2025 Nelsonville Music Festival, a production of Stuart’s Opera House.
