6 p.m. – 9 p.m. – Excursions: Jazz Motifs Black History Month Centenary pt. II

Part II of Excursions’ Black History Month’s Centenary celebration explores the continuum of spirituality within African-American music. Specifically a mix of rhythms, chants, glossolalia, sermonizing, sanctified shouts, spoken word, and Jazz that reflect spiritual liminality (The Holy Spirit) within the varieties of performance.

“The Sacred and the [Profound]: Aspects of the Spirit” will be heard Sat. Feb. 21, from 6-9:00 p.m. Excursions’ second offering for Black History Month’s Centenary, as part of Radio Free Athens, on WOUB Ohio University public radio.
