Teays Valley triumphs over longtime rival Bloom-Carroll

CARROLL, Ohio (WOUB) – The Bloom-Carroll Bulldogs hosted the Teays Valley Vikings in a week-two rivalry matchup. It was a tough game in the first half, but in the second half the Bulldogs faltered, and the Vikings won, 35-14.
The first quarter started off with the Vikings getting a touchdown on their first drive, with Carson Cordes catching a low pass from Landon Helser. With that, Teays Valley put up good defense by preventing the Bulldogs from scoring at all in the first quarter. However, both teams were playing good defensive battles as there were back-to-back interceptions from Robert Williams and Hayden Kellough from both sides.
The second quarter started off with a bang for the Bulldogs with Kyson Cline shrugging off defenders for the touchdown. After that It was a back-and-forth between both teams as no one was able to score. However, with 30 seconds left, the Vikings got the ball in the red zone but failed to get a touchdown. Then Teays Valley attempted a field goal but was blocked by the Bulldogs. At halftime, it was all tied, 7-7.
The third quarter started off with a back-and-forth between the two teams. Bloom-Carroll broke the deadlock with a huge run from Cline, resulting in a QB sneak from Caiden Schooley, bringing the score up to 14-7, Bulldogs. Then the Vikings fired back with a touchdown from Evan Maynard. Teays Valley pulled ahead with a long touchdown from Landon Slusser, bringing it up to 21-14 at the end of the third quarter.
At the beginning of the fourth, Bloom-Carroll was on fire, but the Vikings defense held strong as they prevented two touchdown attempts as well as a blocked field goal. Teays Valley’s offense was on fire as they scored two touchdowns by Slusser and Clayton Grayley, ending the game 35-14 with a win for the Vikings.
Teays Valley looks to build on this win by traveling to Licking Valley on Sept. 4, while Bloom-Carroll hopes to bounce back against Jonathan Alder on Sept. 4.
