Miami Trace dominates Logan Elm with a stifling ground attack

CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio (WOUB) – The Miami Trace Panthers came into Logan Elm field looking to get back into the win column after a 35-7 loss last week to the Wilmington Hurricanes. Miami Trace led by standout running back Julian Baker who had a 279-yard rushing game in week one against the Waverly Tigers.
First quarter Miami Trace head coach Jerry Williams wanted to get the ball moving early with a short pass, but a long run followed by wide receiver Evan Parsley. Julian Baker would break the ice early with a rushing touchdown going up 7-0. Miami Trace would then stop Logan Elm on a fourth down. The Panthers would capitalize a few plays later with another Julian Baker rushing touchdown going up 14-0.
During the second quarter, Miami Trace again got another fourth down stop and another long rushing touchdown from their star running back Baker. Two minutes later in the quarter, Logan Elm would start their comeback attempt with quarterback Austin Holbrook taking the top off the defense with a low secondary coverage by the Panthers. Carter Congrove with the receiving touchdown to cut the lead to 14 points. Miami Trace defense would take no time making up for their mistake with a fumble recovery and then a long touchdown reception to Evan Parsley deep down the field.
A slow 3rd quarter would only hold a Miami Trace short field goal to extend their lead 38-7. The final score of this matchup would be the Miami Trace Panthers beating the Logan Elm Braves 38-7. Standout Baker would finish the game with 250 yards and four touchdowns on the ground, while playing sparsely in the second half.
Miami Trace will get back into the win column, improving to 2-1 on the 2026 season, while Logan Elm will fall back into the losing column with a record currently sitting at 1-2.
Logan Elm will stay at home next week and will host the Fairfield Union Falcons. Miami Trace will also stay home next week hosting the 0-3 Batavia Bulldogs.
