Symmes Valley dominates SOC-I opponent Green in Franklin Furnace

FRANKLIN FURNACE, Ohio (WOUB)– The Green Bobcats hosted the Symmes Valley Vikings for some SOC-I Thursday night football. The Vikings dominated the Bobcats, winning 62-6.
Symmes Valley wasted no time at all getting on the board as Bronx Carpenter would find Beckem Roth on the opening drive for a 20-yard touchdown reception. Vikings would then take an early lead, 7-0 after 50 seconds of offense. This would be one of the longer drives for the Vikings in the first half.
Green would have a chance to respond but would falter on offense. A blocked punt would give the Vikings a fortuitous field position on their own 49-yard line.
Enoch Patterson would be the second Viking to cross the goal line on a one-yard handoff to push Symmes Valley up 14-0 after just three minutes of game time.
Green would be forced to punt again, and after a lackluster punt, Symmes Valley would start on the Green 21. Carpenter would find the third Viking to score in Levi Russell on just the first play of the drive. The Vikings would score their third touchdown in five minutes and take a comfortable lead, 21-0.
Gabe Blevins would make a couple of plays, but nothing substantial, before a high snap on a punt would force Blevins to get creative and ultimately throw an interception into the hands of the Vikings’ defense. Patterson would break free again, this time from 40 yards out to pile on Vikings points. Symmes Valley would be ahead four scores halfway through the first quarter.
The Bobcats would show signs of life when Blevins would unleash a deep ball to Kaleb Mutter to open the Bobcats’ scoring. Green would miss the PAT, and the score would sit at 28-6.
Symmes Valley would rain on the parade by scoring immediately after the Bobcats when Patterson would complete the hat trick and find paydirt for the third time in the first quarter on a 59-yard carry into the end zone. The Vikings would go back up by 28 points.
Green’s offense would be stifled again and forced to punt yet again, and Symmes Valley would capitalize on the Vikings’ sixth touchdown and the fourth Viking to get into the end zone, with Jackson Fields scoring on a 10-yard reception to put the Vikings up 42-6.
Green’s mishaps would continue in the first quarter to forget when Chase Baker would jump on a high snap to give Symmes Valley the ball back on the 50-yard line. Andrew Isaacs would be the fifth Viking to get on the board with a 50-yard touchdown reception to extend the Vikings’ lead to 43 with 40 seconds left in the first quarter. Green would run out the clock, and the quarter would end 49-6 in favor of the Vikings.
Green would come out swinging with a fourth-down conversion from Blevins to Leland Blevins for 31 yards before failing to convert a fourth-and-eight, and Symmes Valley would take over on their own 26.
Carpenter would again move the ball swiftly, finding Fields for Carpenter’s fifth touchdown of the game on a 74-yard pass. With just three minutes left in the half, the Vikings would lead 56-6.
The Bobcats would continue to struggle and give the Vikings the ball back with under a minute left, and Jordan Nance would find Conner Moore to become the sixth Viking to score in the first half.
Halftime would finally come, an hour and a half after kickoff, with Symmes Valley leading 62-6.
The Second half would start with a running clock, with Green electing to go to sophomore QB Elijah Evans in the third quarter. Unfortunately, neither team could connect enough plays together to score, and the game would end 62-6.
Green will look to flip its luck next week with Notre Dame on Friday, Oct. 2. Symmes Valley will try to keep its unbeaten streak alive with Eastern (Pike) next Friday, Oct. 2.
