Athens, Ohio (WOUB) – The Ohio Bobcats (3-6, 0-3) took on the Central Michigan Chippewas (2-7-1, 0-3) in search of their first MAC conference win, after losing the previous three matchups. However, Ohio would draw even with Central Michigan, 2-2.

In the first half, the midfield was crucial for both sides, with most of the play happening there. Every once in a while, the Bobcats or the Chippewas would break away for a shot on goal but would be unsuccessful. In the 32nd minute, Central Michigan would strike first with Ella Betzold getting it around Ohio’s Ayla Rammel to make it 1-0, Chippewas.

The Bobcats would respond within five minutes with Melia Peer hitting a stunner past the Chippewas goalkeeper to draw it even, 1 to 1. With one minute left in the first half, the Bobcats give up an easy goal to Central Michigan’s Jordan Bailey to go into the second half up 2 to 1 over Ohio.

Coming out of the second half, both teams went back and forth. They traded possessions in the midfield and shots on goal, but none of them converted. With 29 minutes left in the game, Ohio’s Camille Francis fought through the goalie to convert the goal for the Bobcats to tie the game up, 2-2.

Both squads were looking for the winning score, but the defenses stepped up and held each other to a 2-2 draw.

“I thought we did some really good things,” said Ohio Head Coach Aaron Rodgers. “We’re not happy with a point, but we’re on the board, and we move forward and try to get a win.”

The Bobcats will travel to face Buffalo on Oct. 4, in hopes of their first MAC win.
