Ohio Softball To Host Doubleheader Against IPFW Thursday
< < Back to ohio-softball-host-doubleheader-against-ipfw-thursdayOhio Bobcat Softball (13-10) announced Wednesday that it will host a doubleheader on Thursday against the IPFW Mastodons. The first game of the two is scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
IPFW’s record currently stands at 10-6, and they are a winner of two of its last three contests. The Mastodons are members of the Summit League and are 2-0 in their league. They have already picked up some notable wins at Iowa State and Texas Tech. Central Michigan also fell to IPFW on the Mastodon’s home field in Fort Wayne, In.
IPFW will be traveling the Ohio Softball Field to take on a Bobcat team that recently dropped both games of a doubleheader to Eastern Kentucky. Ohio ran into an Eastern Kentucky team with a tough pitching staff that allowed just three runs combined in the two games. The ‘Cats faced Eastern Kentucky pitcher Leanna Pittsenbarger in the second game of the doubleheader. She allowed just one hit in a complete game shutout in game two of the doubleheader.
The Bobcats will again face a solid pitching staff and will likely get IPFW’s best pitcher, Miranda Kramer. She currently has a 2.33 ERA and a record of 6-3.
Ohio pitchers will face a stellar Mastodon offense that has five batters hitting .313 or better. Brittany Kachur, the leader of the offense, is batting .429 and slugging .548 going into Thursday’s matchup.
The new addition to schedule will mark the first time ever that the Bobcats will play IPFW.
Next up for the Green and White will be a doubleheader on Saturday at home against Canisius. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
