Former Bobcats Shine in Senior Bowl
< < Back to former-bobcats-shine-senior-bowlFormer Bobcat Football players JD Bales, Bakari Bussey, Tyler Futrell and Corey Hastings shined in last Saturday’s 2013 Ohio-Michigan Senior Bowl as the best seniors from Ohio topped the best seniors from Michigan 10-7.
The former Bobcats led a team of players from five different football divisions into a chilly Fawcett stadium in Canton. This year’s game was the fourth installment of the Senior Bowl, but the first to pit players from Michigan and Ohio against one another.
The lone touchdown for Team Ohio was a result of a Mid-American Conference connection; Kent State quarterback Spencer Keith tossed a 72-yard score to Bussey in the first quarter.
Though Futrell did not catch a touchdown, his three receptions for 48 yards proved to be vital. His second reception, a 15-yard catch, led to a Team Ohio field goal and would prove to be the difference.
Bales saw some time on the offensive line, helping Team Ohio’s offense outgain Team Michigan’s 263-227.
On the defensive side of ball, Hastings wreaked havoc with Team Michigan’s offense, recording two tackles and breaking up a team-high three passes.
Players on the current Ohio University roster return to action on August 31 when they travel to Louisville to take on the Cardinals.
