Toth Earns Regional Recognition

At the conclusion of Marietta’s season, Toth posted a .413 batting average. In the postseason, he tacked on 13 more hits and six additional RBIs.
The Pioneers fell to Manchester University in the NCAA Mideast Regional Championship to end their season.
May 18, 2013 12:44 p.m.: Marietta catcher Alex Toth is gaining attention for the season he turned in for the Pioneers behind the plate and at the plate.
D3Baseball.com columnist Ricky Nelson projects Toth to make the site’s First Team All-Region for the Mideast Region.
Toth, a senior, posted a team-leading .431 batting average over the span of his 36 starts. He knocked 56 hits including 18 doubles on the year and batted in 34 runs.
Behind the plate, Toth was near perfection with a .994 fielding percentage and only one error.
Marietta finished the regular season 28-10 overall and 15-3 in the Ohio Athletic Conference.
The Pioneers earned the No. 1 seed in the OAC Tournament and will face Otterbein, Thursday, May 9 at 1 p.m. EST. The game will be held in Marietta’s Don Schaly Stadium.
