Field Hockey: Ohio proves too much for Missouri State
< < Back to field-hockey-ohio-proves-too-much-missouri-stateOhio’s field hockey team opened MAC play with a 5-1 win over the Missouri State Bears.
The Bobcats (8-2,1-0 MAC), coming off Saturday’s victory at Saint Louis, completed a weekend sweep in the state of Missouri.
Missouri State (3-6, 0-2 MAC) opened up the scoring early with a goal from Casey Bayliss. However, the Bobcats answered quickly with goals from Jessica Jue and Taylor Brown to take a 2-1 lead into the halftime break.
The second half belonged to Ohio as Jue and Brown each found the back of the net again. Brooke Edwards added a goal to help bury the Bears.
Jen McGill, Ohio's goaltender, needed to make only one save in the game, as the Bobcat defense proved tough to penetrate.
Offensively, the Bobcats dominated possession and turned that into numerous scoring chances. Ohio outshot Missouri State 23-7.
The Bobcats used this weekend’s trip as a way to get back on track after suffering their first two losses on the season. Conference play continues for Ohio Saturday, October 1 when the team plays host to Ball State.
