Gun-Safety Instructor Accidentally Shoots Student
< < Back to gun-safety-instructor-accidentally-shoots-studentPolice say an instructor of a gun-safety class in central Ohio accidentally shot a student during the weekend.
Terry Dunlap Sr., 73, was demonstrating a hand gun on Saturday at a training facility when he fired a bullet that bounced off a desk and into the right arm of Michael Piemonte.
The 26-year-old student says the .38-caliber bullet hit him between his elbow and armpit. He says many of the students in the class were nurses who helped stabilize him before he was transported to a Columbus hospital.
Piemonte says that it appears that Dunlap did not know that the gun was loaded. Dunlap did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
A police report lists the incident as an accidental shooting.
