Ohio Suspends Four Charter Schools
< < Back to ohio-suspends-four-charter-schoolsCOLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – The Ohio Department of Education is suspending four northeast Ohio charter schools that the agency says haven’t met student performance requirements.
The agency’s office of school sponsorship announced Wednesday it was suspending Imagine on Superior Academy in Canton; Villaview Community School in Cleveland; Imagine Cleveland Academy; and Cleveland Community School.
The state office had assumed sponsorship of the schools in April when it became clear that the sponsor of all four – Portage County Educational Service Center – would close at the end of the school year.
The governing authorities of the schools have until the end of the week to propose a remedy to the issues raised by the state. If they don’t, the schools could be closed.
