Dave Boston Jr. Resigns as N-Y Head Coach

As was first reported by the Athens Messenger, the Nelsonville-York School Board accepted the resignations of head football coach David Boston Jr. and assistant coach Dave Boston Sr. It also terminated assistant coach Jason Andrews’s contract.
Assistant coach Earich Dean will take the reigns as interim head coach for the remainder of the season.
According to The Messenger, the resignations came to be as a result of an altercation between Boston Jr. and Andrews during the team’s 23-12 home loss to River Valley. Though the two men will no longer work with the team, they will remain in their roles with the school district. Boston serves as the high school’s athletic director and Andrews works as a computer technician.
It remains unclear as to whether or not the altercation was physical or verbal. Both coaches denied the former.
Boston and Andrews have been in hot water with the district before. In 2004, Andrews received punishment for “unprofessional verbal confrontation with the officials” and in 2009, Boston Jr’s contract was terminated for a day, citing “discourteous” treatment of his coaching staff and players.
Boston was in the midst of his 13th season at the helm. The Buckeyes accumulated eight playoff appearances and an 86-46 during his tenure.
