OHSAA Releases First Football Computer Ratings

The Ohio High School Athletic Association released its first set of weekly computer ratings for all seven divisions and 26 regions. Several teams within our coverage area found themselves ranked.

Beginning with our larger schools, Tri-Valley (3-1, 2-0) placed tied for 12th in division II, region six with a computer rating of 4.975. The Logan Chieftains (4-0) come in second in division II, region five with a rating of 9.425. The Jackson Ironmen (4-0, 0-0) come in at No. 1 in division III, region nine, accumulating a 9.125 computer rating. The Ironmen were also picked tenth in all of division III in the AP’s most recent poll.

Maysville (4-0, 4-0) holds down the fourth spot in division IV, region 13 with its 7.375 computer ranking. Bloom-Carroll (3-1, 1-0) also joins the Panthers in the top ten of that region, coming in at eighth with a computer rating of 5.7.

Down to division V, region 17, Zane Trace (4-0) ranks first with its 8.85 rating. The AP put the Pioneers fourth in the division.

Other ranked teams in Zane Trace’s region include: third-place River Valley (4-0, 1-0) with a 6.375 rating, eighth-place Wellston (3-1, 0-0) with a 4.475 rating, and ninth-place Alexander (3-1, 1-0) with a 4.125 rating.

Finally, Miller (4-0, 3-0) is third in division VII, region 25 with a rating of 5.25. Trimble (3-1, 3-0) came in at No. 6 in division VII, region 25, accumulating a 4.375 rating. South Gallia (2-2, 0-1) and Belpre (2-2, 2-1) are each tied for 12h with 2.1 ratings.
