Miami Fires Don Treadwell
< < Back to miami-fires-don-treadwellAfter beginning its 2013 season 0-5 and averaging less than 9 points per game, Miami University fired head coach Don Treadwell and offensive coordinator John Klacik on Sunday. Mike Bath will serve as the interim head coach, moving from his position as quarterbacks and wide receivers coach.
Miami hired Treadwell in 2011, but the program has earned just a 4-8 record in Treadwell’s first two years at the helm and hasn’t shown any signs of improvement in its current season. The RedHawks are averaging a 26.8-point loss on the season and are coming off of a 21-9 loss to the Central Michigan Chippewas on Saturday.
Treadwell is an alumnus of Miami, playing wide receiver for the RedHawks from 1978-81 and returning to coach the running backs and wide receivers in 1992-93. The coach accepted the head position with Miami after serving as Michigan State’s offensive coordinator for the four years prior.
The RedHawks have recorded an 8-21 record since Treadwell’s arrival. Miami visits Athens to take on Ohio on Saturday, Oct. 26.
