Meigs, River Valley High-Powered Offenses to Collide
< < Back to meigs-river-valley-high-powered-offenses-to-collideHalfway through their second season in the TVC-Ohio, the River Valley Raiders (4-0, 1-0) find themselves atop the standings with all the other teams looking up.
It’s an unfamiliar position this far into the season.
Over the past 20 years, the Raiders have not finished better than 6-4. The team came close last season, finishing with a 5-5 record.
With a win Friday night over the Meigs Marauders (3-1, 1-0), the Raiders will be 5-0 and well on their way to their best record in over two decades.
But that’s easier said than done.
The Marauders are no pushovers. Led by quarterback Cody Bartrum, who already has 997 passing yards, 183 rushing yards and a combined 11 touchdowns, the Marauders offense is averaging just over 30 points per game this season.
Bartrum isn’t the only player carrying the load for the Marauders. Kaileb Sheets has amassed 253 rushing yards, 297 receiving yards and a combined 5 touchdowns.
The Raiders also have some firepower of their own. The dynamic trio of Dayton Hardaway, Justin Arrowood, and Mark Wray lead an offense which is averaging over 33 points per contest,
Containing either offense will be a tall task, placing all the more pressure on each team’s defense to keep the score manageable, even if a shootout unfolds.
Kick off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
