Jackson Hands Logan First Loss in Pivotal Game

In what could be the last ever matchup between Logan (6-1) and Jackson (6-1) in the SEOAL, the Ironmen ended the Chieftains quest for perfection with a 35-21 victory.
The victory put the Ironmen in the SEOAL driver’s seat and it is unlikely they will give up the spot.
In the middle of the first quarter, Logan running back Bryce McBride went down with an apparent leg injury. The senior did not return to the game.
Corey Wilson replaced McBride and even registered a touchdown, but the Logan offense was noticeably disrupted by his absence.
Quarterback Lane Little bore much of the burden left by McBride, finishing with 275 yards and a touchdown on 19-of-35 passing. However, he also tossed two interceptions and looked out of sync with his receiving core. When his passes were on-target, receivers dropped several wide-open chances.
The Ironmen executed their game plan to perfection. Jackson was able to run the ball and take time off of the clock, including a six-minute drive in the fourth quarter. The Ironmen finished the game with 263 yards rushing.
That lengthy drive represented just a small portion of Jackson’s second half dominance. Collin Massie proved his worth in short-yardage situations, finishing with just 43 yards, but two key touchdowns in the latter half. Blake McCoy had an even more impressive performance, piling up 136 yards and a score on 12 carries.
Whenever Logan scored in the second half, which it did twice during the second half, Jackson responded promptly and never let the Chieftains within reach.
Quarterback Hunter Sexton also contributed on the ground, piling up 84 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. He also finished 5-of-8 through the air with 111 yards and a score.
Logan will seek redemption against Columbus St. Francis DeSales while Jackson will host Meigs.
