Federal Hocking Lady Lancers: Dec. 13-20
< < Back to federal-hocking-lady-lancers-dec-13-20Federal Hocking began its week notching three losses to its record. The Lady Lancers now sit at 2-6 however, the losses showed signs of improvement from the team.
The Lady Lancers opened up at South Gallia on Dec. 14. The matchup was another tight game, ending in a 53-44 loss. However the nine point deficit demonstrated how Federal Hocking is continuing to close the scoring gap with each game.
Destiny Tabler put up 23 points for the Lady Lancers. Hannah Duffy also contributed with nine points as well.
The Lady Lancers sparked a fire in the third quarter, leading to the game coming down to free throws the wire in the fourth. However the team lacked the ability to finish the game, unable to compensate for the points given up in previous quarters.
“It didn’t feel like we showed up to play,” coach Jeremy Tolson said. “We lacked discipline and we lacked hustle.”
Despite the loss, the Lady Lancers managed to improve on their fouling by playing less aggressive. It allowed them to handle the ball better, getting around players rather than using brute force.
Federal Hocking regrouped and prepared for its Dec. 17 matchup with Miller. The 48-45 loss marked the fourth straight loss for the Lady Lancers. The game also continued the trend of closing the score gap but lacking a strong finish.
On Dec. 19 the Lady Lancers faced the tough task of playing against an undefeated Waterford team. While Federal Hocking lost 56-30, the Lady Lancers stayed competitive. The team continued to solidify their strategies and work effort.
The Lady Lancers will continue to improve this week, traveling to Southern and Trimble on Dec. 21 and 23.
