Former Teacher Faces Life in Prison
< < Back toDELAWARE, Ohio (AP) — A former central Ohio elementary school teacher has been convicted of more than 40 charges involving the sexual assaults of several students.
Forty-year-old Matthew Rausenberg was convicted Monday in Delaware County.
Rausenberg faces up to life in prison at his sentencing Thursday. He resigned from Arrowhead Elementary School in Lewis Center after his March arrest.
A message seeking comment from his attorney wasn’t immediately returned Tuesday. At trial he questioned the credibility of a witness and her mother who waited several years to speak out.
Prosecutors say Rausenberg assaulted young female students who “wouldn’t make a fuss,” including girls with divorced parents. They say he filmed himself groping and molesting a second-grader after she told him to stop.
