Waterford Tied for First in AP Poll
< < Back to waterford-tied-for-first-in-ap-pollFor the third consecutive week, the AP polls feature the Waterford girls at the No. 1 spot, but this time the Lady Wildcats aren’t alone.
Last week’s poll saw the Lady Wildcats with 199 total points and 14 first place votes. Arlington had 180 points with only six first place votes. This week Waterford lost one first place vote, with Arlington gaining two. Both Waterford and Arlington have 210 total votes. Well above the third place team, New Madison Tri-Village with 164 total points.
The Lady Wildcats had one win to add to the resume for the past week, a 65-50 win over Alexander. Waterford had a game against Parkersburg South, one of West Virginia’s top teams, postponed due to snow. The game is rescheduled for Wednesday.
Waterford (15-0) will next have that matchup with Parkersburg South. A victory for the Lady Wildcats will help in the points race and could put Waterford back into sole possession of the No. 1 spot.
Arlington (17-0) won’t have another game until Saturday when it faces a tough Minister (11-2) team.
