Joan Shelley Releases New Animated Music Video
< < Back to joan-shelley-releases-new-animated-music-videoJoan Shelley and her accompanying guitarist Nathan Salsburg have just released a music video for “Cost of The Cold,” the A-side to their most recent release, a 7″ that serves as the duo’s most recent since 2015’s critically acclaimed Over and Even.
The video, which consists of shifting drawings by artist Douglas Miller, was profiled today on NPR Music’s First Watch.
In an email to NPR, Shelley said that the song is about “a particular waterfall, a dog and recent season in Kentucky,” which she and Salsburg worked out in her own backyard. The two recorded the song in Chicago in April, only weeks before they performed at the Nelsonville Music Festival.
