Gallia Academy Hires Riffe As Head Coach
< < Back to ?p=16639Gallia Academy hired its third head coach in the past five years on Thursday, as the Gallipolis City Schools Board of Education approved the hiring of Josh Riffe as the new head coach of the Gallia Academy Blue Devils.
“It feels great,” Riffe said. “It’s an opportunity that I’ve wanted for a long time and I’m glad to get the chance to be the head coach.”
Riffe was the offensive coordinator for the Blue Devils under former head coach Mike Eddy (2009-2011) and has taught at Gallia Academy since 2009. He also controlled the offense for Meigs High School under former NFL player Mike Bartum for the past two seasons.
“The experiences that I got from him are invaluable due to all of the knowledge that he has for the game,” Riffe said.
The Marauders finished second in the Tri-Valley Conference and posted a 7-3 overall record last season.
Riffe will take over for former head coach Wade Bartholomew, who resigned from his position on Feb. 11 to take the helm at Bloom Carroll. Under Bartholomew, Gallia Academy posted a 5-5 overall record and finished 1-3 in the SEOAL during the 2013 season.
Gallia Academy opens the 2014 season with the Athens Bulldogs on Aug. 29.
