Update: Crash On I-70 Near Near Licking-Muskingum County Line

Interstate 70 is now open to traffic.

 

Ohio troopers say a crash on Interstate 70 east of Columbus kept one side of the highway closed for hours.
 
The State Highway Patrol says a semi hauling produce rolled over early today, spilling the truck's diesel fuel onto the westbound lanes of the highway.
 
The accident stopped traffic from going west on I-70 toward Columbus from an area near the Licking-Muskingum County line. 
 
A dispatcher at the patrol's Zanesville post says vehicles forced to detour were backed up for miles at times. The dispatcher says troopers hoped to reopen the highway by 2 p.m.
 
Authorities tells multiple media outlets that the truck's driver was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Update 9:21 a.m.

A portion of Interstate 70 is closed due to a semi-tractor trailer crash at about 2:10 this morning.

The trailer, carrying mushrooms and pineapples, rolled over and caught fire just inside the Licking County Line, according to a Highway Patrol spokeswoman.

Troopers say the driver of the trailer was trying to avoid a deer.

The crash closed the westbound lanes from US 40 to Ohio 668.

Westbound traffic is being rerouted through Gratiot.

Zanesville Highway Patrol troopers say the closed lanes are expected to be reopened between 11:00 and 11:30 this morning.

Troopers say I-70 going west toward Columbus is shut down near the Licking-Muskingum County line and could remain that way until 1 p.m. Traffic is being detoured.

Authorities say the truck's driver was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
