After playing just three times in the past 14 days, the Ohio Bobcats softball team hits the road to play four road games over the coming weekend at Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan

This coming weekend presents the first bit of Mid-American Conference play for the Bobcats (15-13).

“My stance is that we’re the best team in this conference,” head coach Jodi Hermanek said, “so we need to be ready to go and beat anybody in this conference no matter who it is.”

Ohio played the Eagles and Chippewas towards the end of the 2013 season and split two-game series with both schools in Athens.

Ohio defeated the Eagles 6-5 in game one last year and lost the second matchup of the doubleheader 6-1.

Savannah Jo Dorsey pitched seven innings over the course of two games in that series and gave up five earned runs while only striking out four batters, just a bit below her normal pace in terms of punch-outs.

Lauren McClary figures to get some time on the mound after having not started a contest for a couple of weeks (her role has mostly been in relief as of late).
The Bobcats took game one of their series with the Chippewas in 2013 by a score of 7-3, and lost the second game the next day by a score of 13-5 in five innings.

Alexandria Basquez led the Bobcats batters with four RBIs in last year’s series with CMU, Chelsea Hortman went 3-for-5 in the two games, and the departed Lauren Gellerman scored five of the team’s eight runs in the showdowns with the Chippewas.
