The Trimble Tomcats defended their home court Friday taking down the Eastern Eagles by a score of 79-44. The Tomcats came out firing on all cylinders as their offense utterly dominated in the first half behind the scoring of Randy Hixson and strong defensive play.

Trimble started off quickly, finding Randy Hixson who hit two quick threes to open the game. Eastern remained close behind only down 22-14 after the first, all 14 points coming from the electric Jett Facemyer. However, the offensive production of Randy Hixson could not be contained as Trimble would lean on Randy heavily as he continued to stroke it in the first half. He went into halftime hitting 6-of-8 from beyond the arc and scoring 24 points, helping the Tomcats to a 50-26 lead. Jett Facemyer did all he could to keep the Eagles in it as he put in Eastern’s first 10 points as well as 22 of their 26 in the first half.

The second half continued the same narrative as the first. Hixson cooled off as the Tomcats defense heated up and kept pace with their offense. Jett Facemyer continued to will the Eagles to a comeback effort, putting in bucket after bucket but to no avail. The rest of the Eagles offense was plagued with turnovers, giving the ball up 24 times. The Tomcats took a 40 point lead into the fourth quarter and never looked back finishing off an impressive victory on Homecoming night. Jett Facemyer led all scorers with 34 points on 17-21 shooting for the Eagles. Randy Hixson led Trimble with 29 points, many of which came off the hands of Kam Curry who dished out eight assists.

This is Trimble’s fourth win in their last five games and Eastern’s seventh straight loss. Trimble remains at home tomorrow against Nelsonville-York as Eastern looks to bounce back on Tuesday as they take on Federal Hocking at home.
