Ohio Softball Swept In Akron

Unable to capitalize on multiple scoring opportunities in Akron over the weekend, the Ohio Bobcats fell for the second straight day on Sunday, 9-0.
It was the second time in Mid-American Conference play that Ohio was shut out in both games of a two-game series.
The Bobcats failed to take advantage of situations in the third and fourth inning, in which they had several runners on with less than two outs. With Taylor Saxton and Casie Hutchinson on first and second in the third with one out, Alexandria Basquez struck out looking and Savannah Jo Dorsey lined out to end the frame.
In the fourth, Ohio loaded the bases before Kaylin Clarke grounded into a double play to end the best scoring chance the ‘Cats had in the contest.
Ohio stranded nine runners on the day as it picked up just five hits and five walks.
Dorsey collected her 16th loss on the season as she went 5 2/3 innings on the mound and gave up seven runs – though just three were earned. She walked six batters and struck out nine on the way to the loss.
Lauren McClary came on with two outs in the sixth and gave up a two-run single and a Jessica Schneider walk-off three-run home run to end the game in sixth inning.
Saxton, Adrienne Gebele, and Madison Claytor all picked up a hit on the day and Dakota Pyles, picked up two. Pyles had been supplanted in left field by the likes of Sloan Walker and Saxton, but Saxton moved over to second to give Alexia Cortez a day off.
