Eastern Dominates Lady Lancers
< < Back to eastern-dominates-lady-lancersSTEWART, Ohio — The Eastern Lady Eagles did not let up Tuesday evening defeating the Federal Hocking Lady Lancers 27 to 5 in a TVC-Hocking showdown. Early hitting in the top of the first inning propelled the Lady Eagles momentum giving them a quick 6-0 lead and they did not let that up throughout the five-inning game.
The Lady Eagles has been hitting well all season and that showed. They finished the game with 16 hits, and capitalized on every mistake Federal Hocking’s defense made.
Hannah Bailey led the team with three hits. Emmalea Durst, Abbie Hawley, and Taylynn Rockhold contributed two hits each.
Even though the Lady Eagles outshined the Lady Lancers, Eagles’ Head Coach Bryan Durst said the team has room for improvement.
“We pride ourselves in our defense, but our pitchers walked too many tonight and we need to do better at that if we want to stay competitive in the league,” Durst said.
Elayna Hensley started in the circle for the Lady Eagles and didn’t give up a hit till the fourth inning.
Eastern is leading the TVC-Hocking with an undefeated conference record and an overall record of 10-1. Their only loss came last weekend to Cincinnati Division 1 powerhouse Lakota East High School.
Lady Lancers Struggle
The Lady Lancers defense couldn’t seem to get their gloves down or connect their throws against Eastern’s unstoppable offense. Federal Hocking’s three different pitchers couldn’t hit the strike zone, walking 12 batters and hitting four with pitches. Lancers’ errors throughout the game allowed the Lady Eagles to keep runners crossing the plate.
Federal Hocking has a 3-6 record in the conference; they’re 3-9 overall.
