Kasich Working On New Ideas for Ohio State Fair
< < Back to kasich-working-new-ideas-ohio-state-fairWednesday marks the start of the 161st Ohio State Fair, which features new attractions and some big-name musical acts. Ohio Gov. John Kasich kicked off the festivities and went on his traditional tour where he’s been known to brainstorm ideas for future fairs.
After cutting the ceremonial ribbon with the Ohio State Fair commission, Kasich walked around the fairgrounds and talked to vendors about how they think the event could improve.
Ideas included bringing back the Grandstand concert venue and tractor pull competitions. The governor said he wants to keep developing the fair without changing it’s core.
“The fair is part of Ohio’s DNA – you don’t want to mess with the DNA but you want to do what you can do to look forward and capture some of the great things we’ve had in the past,” said Kasich.
Planting more trees along the midway and creating an agriculture art contest are some new additions brought-in by Kasich.
The Ohio State Fair runs through August 3.
