Game Preview: Undefeated Sheridan Hopes To Keep Rolling Against John Glenn
< < Back toThe MVL standings at this time one year ago are quite similar this season, but with one key difference; the Sheridan Generals are a perfect 3-0 heading into Week 4.
After shutting out Zanesville 15-0 in Week 3, the Generals defense has now allowed just 13 points in three games, while the offense has scored a whopping 128 points, an average of 42.6 points per game.
The John Glenn Little Muskies (2-1, 1-0 MVL), however have not produced those types of stats, as the defense has allowed 74 points and the offense has scored just 69 points.
John Glenn is coming off of a nail-biting 14-10 win over West Muskingum in Week 3, as the Little Muskies scored the game-winning touchdown with just 12 seconds left in the game.
Both teams have momentum coming into this game, but statistically, Sheridan looks to have the upper hand. Sheridan was able to shut out Zanesville, and also beat West Muskingum in Week 2 by a score of 65-13.
The key for the Little Muskies will be its defense. If Sheridan can produce well on offense, John Glenn will have a hard time keeping pace.
The tough Sheridan defense will be hard to breakthrough, but slow, consistent drives will play a big factor in the game. John Glenn needs to win the time of possession to keep their offense in control, which will put less pressure on the defense and allow them to stay fresh for Sheridan’s high-scoring offense.
If John Glenn can execute both of these tasks, the Sheridan Generals could be undefeated no more.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. from Paul Culver Stadium in Thornville.
