A career high 29 points for Megan Ball.
Ball led the Wildcats (7-1) to a decisive 63-49 victory over West Virginia foe, Parkersburg (5-2). The Big Red defeated Waterford 56-52 in the first game of the season on December 2nd.
Megan Ball was a perfect 12-12 from the foul line and 8-8 when the game went down to the wire in the fourth quarter.
Alli Kern contributed to the win with 20 points of her own alongside Hayley Duff who had eight points before she left due to injury.
Parkersburg was well rested having not played a game 10 days before the 28th.
Big Red was fresh and was leading by a score of 26-24 after the first half. Madi Mace led Parkersburg in points with 16 while Maddi Leggett followed closely behind with 11.
The game remained tight heading into the second half with the score tied at 39 a piece after the third quarter.
In the fourth, it was Megan Ball’s time to shine.
Ball drained a field goal to make it 41-39. But Parkersburg tied it with a two of their own. Ball responded with a three and the Wildcats took over for good.
Hayley Duff tacked on a layup plus one to bring the score to 47-41.
Toward the end of the fourth, Waterford extended their lead to 55-45 before Parkersburg started to foul.
The Wildcat’s shot 15-17 (88%) from the foul line to seal the deal and head into the new year on a high note.
The Waterford boys’ basketball game was cancelled against Fort Frye as they will look ahead to South Gallia on January 9th.
The girls are in action again on January 6th away at Trimble.
