Meigs County Fatal Fire Under Investigation
< < Back to meigs-county-fatal-fire-under-investigatinInvestigators with the Ohio State Fire Marshal's Office are trying to figure out what caused a fatal fire in Meigs County over the weekend.
Spokesman Shane Cartmill says the fire happened on Dexter Road in Langsville Saturday afternoon.
He says an adult man was killed in the blaze.
The fire started in the bedroom where the victim's body was found.
The flames were contained to the one room, but there was smoke and water damage throughout the rest of the home.
The Montogomery County Coroner's Office is conducting an autopsy.
Cartmill says the fire was discovered by acquaintances of the person who lived there and the home was found locked and secure.
The victim was the only person inside the home at the time of the fire.
Investigators also say they found no working smoke alarms in the home.
