Nelsonville-York opened up with the ball on their own 35-yard line after River Valley kicked the opening kickoff out of bounds. Lining up in the I-formation, everyone at River Valley High School stadium would expect N.Y.’s Keegan Wilburn to get the ball and they’d be right. When Mikey Seel pitched that ball to Wilburn in the backfield, he didn’t look to run the ball. Instead he dropped back to pass and found Brandon Phillips for the 56-yard deep pass down the field.

Keegan Wilburn’s night was just getting started. Not only did he contribute in the aerial attack, Wilburn rushed for 101 yards on 7 carries in the Buckeyes’ 54-28 victory over the Raiders. Wilburn’s monster night finished with 5 total touchdowns including one on defense. His teammate, Mikey Seel, went 7/11 passing for 201 yards and 2 touchdowns. 2 of those completions went to Brandon Phillips who finished with 3 receptions for 83 yards.

River Valley hung around in the game for the first half thanks to a Jordan Burns’ 8-yard touchdown pass to Jared Reese that cut River Valley’s deficit to 13-20 with under a minute left in the first half. Burns would finish the night with 87 yards and 2 touchdowns including a 47-yard touchdown to Brandon Call. Reese also finished the night with five rushes for 63-yards and a touchdown.

Eventually, the Keegan Wilburn show took over for the Buckeyes who managed to grab their first win of the year, improving their record to 1-3. For the Raiders, they drop to 0-4 despite putting 28 points on the board. In their first three games alone, they only put up seven points. With a game against Meigs next week, the Raiders will have to look to continue their offensive flow in hopes to get their first win. For the Buckeyes, they travel to Waverly to take on the Tigers next week and they’ll be looking to keep the winning momentum going.
