October 24, 2018 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
FreeSusan Talbot-Stanaway presents the stories of Ohio women during WWI.
Elsie Janis, of Columbus, was the first professional entertainer to perform before American troops on the front lines and in the hospitals of France and England. May Cook, born in Chillicothe, was a sculptor who did pioneering work on facial reconstruction for injured soldiers. Mary E. Gladwin was an award-winning Red Cross nurse in Europe.
Ohio women also contributed to victory on the home front in munitions factories, war gardens, and as volunteers in the Red Cross, the Y.W.C.A, and church groups. This program highlights some of their fascinating stories.
