Blue Lions Look To Spoil Chillicothe’s Playoff Hopes

Chillicothe (7-1, 3-0 FAC) appears to be in the driver’s seat to a second consecutive FAC conference championship.
A team who had several question marks on offense entering the season has kept pace with last year’s performance as they chase the possibility of hosting a playoff game.
This optimism is a potential flaw that the explosive Washington Court House Blue Lions (5-3, 1-2 FAC) hope to exploit.
The tandem offensive ability of wideouts Omar Porter and Dillon Steward have put up numbers that can ruin any defense’s schemes. Blue Lions quarterback Gio Thomas has put up twenty-one passing touchdowns and eight rushing touchdowns on the season so far.
Don’t discount the rushing ability of Washington either, Jameson McCane has contributed five rushing touchdowns and three receiving touchdowns.
Apart from a 57-7 loss to London, the Blue lions have scored close to at least 30 points in every game they have played; their kryptonite is a leaky defense. Washington has given up 69, 71, and 20 points in their last three games, leading to a losing record in-conference.
Chillicothe needs to take advantage of their offensive ability to punish any defensive mistakes made by Washington. Cavalier halfback J’Quan Harris has put up multiple 100-yard games this season, giving the Cavs multiple plans of attack.
This Chillicothe team also relies on a strong special teams unit led by kicker Matt Detty, whose left leg has provided 11 touchbacks on 26 kickoffs and is 19/25 on PATs.
Another weapon on special teams is the return game, in which Zach Coats specializes in returning kickoffs for touchdowns, picking up three in one game against Mifflin.
Playoff standings are the main priority for the Cavaliers, which is currently ranked sixth in region eight and they are projected by Drew Pasteur to finish in fourth place if they win out. This will secure a home playoff game for the first time since any of the players have been alive.
