Homecoming weekend shows gratitude to those Alumni that have helped make the university the great spectacle of knowledge that it is today. The festivities are plenty-full and those who attend are reminded of the schools rich history. Ohio University Student and member of the Marching 110 Alex Herron gives her perspective on the Alumni’s impact on the band.
“You get to march on the field with all of the different alumni, some of them from decades ago when their were only men allowed in”
The Ohio University Marching 110 is a big part of the homecoming festivities as they perform during the parade and at halftime of the football game. “It’s so nice to learn about the history of the band and learn about all their old traditions.”
Ohio University takes many strides to celebrate its rich 200 year history. One such way is the setting up of the annual homecoming floor display inside of Alden Library.
The 2018 display consists of 19 tables filled with original, primary historic materials that depicts over 200 years of Ohio University life and history. Numerous Ohio memorabilia is featured in the display, as well as posters representing over 90 years of university events.
“It’s a very fun experience for the old and the new to come together. I know that they (alumni) all enjoy it and I know that i’ll enjoy it when i,m an alumni.”
