Ohio Softball: ‘Cats Come Home for Weekend Series against Bowling Green

Coming off of their extra innings 11-9 win over Pittsburgh on Tuesday, the Bobcats return to OSF for the first time this season.
Ohio was led by a three home run day from sophomore Katie Yun. When going to the plate, she said she did not look for any certain pitch.
“I just kinda went up there and thought hit the ball,” Yun said.
Over the last few weeks while on the road, the Bobcats have been red hot at the plate. As a team, they are hitting .340 with 67 hits, 19 home runs and 51 RBI’s over the last six games.
Head Coach Kenzie Roark said their identity has come to fruition as of late. “Over the last three weeks have really come into our own and we call them the comeback cats because they never give up”.
The offense is lead by Yun and Morgan Geno who are helping Ohio lead the MAC in batting average, hitting .310 as a team.
Yun leads the MAC in three different categories including runs scored, while Geno is first in home runs with 10 and RBI’s with 39 and seven RBI’s away from setting the new all-time career RBI record in Bobcat history.
While individual accomplishments at the plate are great, Geno said that ” We just think about it as having our pitchers backs”.
While the offense is at the Top of the MAC, pitching is not far behind. Ohio currently ranks third in ERA at 3.53.
The Bobcats will look to continue their early success today and tomorrow when they begin Mid-American Conference play against Bowling Green at home.
Softball is back in Athens for the first time this year and the team couldn’t be more excited. Katie Yun said. “It feels really good returning to Athens.”
First pitch Friday is set for 3 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m.
