The National Reserve II Gladden House Sessions 2019
< < Back to ?p=238011The National Reserve brought authenticity and simple charisma to the Gladden House Friday afternoon. The band has been impressing barflies and critics alike for nearly half a decade, and after playing continuous weekly gigs at Brooklyn’s Skinny Dennis in Williamsburg before going on tour earlier this year, this heartfelt and far-reaching artistry was no surprise from the New York-native band.
Comprised of founder and frontman Sean Walsh, Jon Ladeau, Brian Geltner, and Scott Colberg, The National Reserve combines the best of classic rock ‘n’ roll melodies and punchy R&B rhythms that are giving the band a well-deserved trajectory towards widespread acclaim.
The National Reserve played four songs with fiery twang and honest character. “I’ll Go Blind” kicked off the set (off 2018’s Motel La Grange, Ramseur Records), followed by the unreleased “Laurel Canyon,” and then “New Love,” another number from Motel La Grange. As an encore, they played “Roll On Babe,” the cover that closes out Motel La Grange, a tune originally written by bluegrass artist Derroll Adams and made famous by Ronnie Lane in 1974.
