(UPDATE 11/7/19) Restrictions against three sororities at Ohio University have been lifted after an investigation into hazing allegations ended.
The University concluded it’s investigation into Chi Omega, Delta Zeta and Pi Beta Phi two weeks ago after no evidence was found to cooperate claims that included bullying, assault and forced drug use, according to University Spokesperson Carly Leatherwood.
Meanwhile, two Interfraternity Council organizations received reprimands from after admitting responsibility during the investigation.
Delta Tau Delta received notification of their reprimand on October 22 and Theta Chi received their notification on October 29, according to the university’s Student Organization Status website.
Both organizations were accused of requiring new members to carry around progressively larger pieces of fruit, up to the size of a watermelon, “at all times.”
A reprimand is “Official notification of unacceptable behavior and violation(s) of the Student Code of Conduct. Any further misconduct may result in more serious disciplinary sanctions,” according to the university.

(ORIGINAL POST) Four fraternities under investigation by Ohio University are still being held under a cease and desist order, along with a sports club and the Marching 110.
Ohio University’s Office for Community Standards and Student Responsibility said in a release that Beta Theta Pi, Lambda Chi Alpha, Phi Kappa Psi and Sigma Chi remain under a cease and desist, which prohibits them from meeting in any capacity related to their organizations.
The men’s rugby team and the Marching 110 were also told to remain under their cease and desist orders, which includes non-academic activities for the marching band.
The office said it has concluded “initial meetings” with student organization leaders, and decided to modify some restrictions previously put on some members of the Interfraternity Council.
“Additionally, the Office for Sorority and Fraternity Life has lifted the blanket suspension on Interfraternity Council Organizations that were not operating under a Cease and Desist order by Community Standards and Student Responsibility,” the release stated.
Pi Kappa Phi, Alpha Kappa Psi, ACACIA, Phi Chi Theta, Alpha Epsilon Pi, Theta Chi, Pi Beta Phi, Delta Zeta and Chi Omega have all had their restrictions “modified,” though the university did not elaborate on the modifications.
Delta Upsilon and Sigma Phi Epsilon had their restrictions lifted conditionally, and Phi Gamma Delta, Phi Delta Theta, Pi Kappa Alpha, Phi Kappa Tau, and Delta Tau Delta had all restrictions lifted.
“The university is confident that, with the information we have been able to gather since the initial allegations were reported, our decision to modify restrictions on some of the students organizations with low-level allegations is to the direct benefit of our students,” the release stated.
The office said the investigation into the hazing allegations is still ongoing.
