COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Ohio’s state watchdog says an information technology executive with ties to then-Gov. John Kasich’s administration worked to improperly steer as much as $9 million in state contracts to his private company.

In a report issued Thursday, Inspector General Randall Meyer found Rex Plouck worked with the Department of Administrative Services’deputy director to land state business for Advocate Solutions LLC, where he was CEO.

Plouck was a one-time contractor with the administrative services agency and the Governor’s Office of Health Transformation. His wife, Tracy, was in Kasich’s Cabinet and a Health Transformation stakeholder. A message was left seeking comment.
