Eastern Lady Eagles Out-Duel Waterford in Low-Scoring Affair
< < Back to 248185REEDSVILLE, Ohio- The score might’ve been low, but the intensity was high when the Lady Eagles flew in against the Lady Wildcats. Eastern was able to top the Waterford Lady Wildcats on Thursday, 28-24.
Late into the first quarter the Lady Wildcats went up by six going into the second quarter with all the momentum, but Eastern was able to keep their cool and settle back into the game.
“We were playing hard and the game was tight,” said Eastern head coach Chuck Robinson. “So we decided going into this game we were going to have fun, and we did. I said have fun, play hard, enjoy what you do and go from there.”
Both teams were tied at 24 going into the fourth quarter. With a little under a minute to go in the game the scoreless streak between both teams was broken as senior Jaymie Basham sunk two free throws to put the lady Eagles up late, and sank another two free throws which sealed the deal for the Lady Eagles.
The defense for Eastern was top-notch on Thursday. The Lady Eagles only allowed the Lady Wildcats to have 12 points per half
The Lady Eagles, despite winning the game, struggled shooting. The three-pointer was non-existent in Eastern’s win as they went 0-for-14 in Thursday’s contest.
For the Lady Eagles, Jennifer Parker led the way with Jennifer Parker with ten points. Parker was 4-for-4 from inside the three-point line as well as being 2-for-4 from the charity stripe.
Eastern will head to Belpre on Saturday to take on the Golden Rockets with a 12:15 p.m. tip-off.
