Meigs Marauders Get the Job Done Versus Raiders for Three Straight Wins

POMEROY, Ohio- Looks can be deceiving.
For Meigs Marauders head coach Jeremy Hill, a 7-8 record coming into their Tuesday matchup was not representative of their true potential as a team. Hill feels the Marauders rankings in the TVC-Ohio doesnt tell the whole story
“We are actually a ball club that’s four points away from being first place in the league,” Hill said. “We lost to Athens by two and Vinton County by two.”
Meigs came into the night riding a two-game win streak and after a 61-48 win over River Valley, the Marauders show no signs of slowing down.
Meigs got off to a bit of a slow start in the first quarter, but by the end of the first half the Marauders led by double digits. “At half time the coaching staff did a very nice job of working together and making adjustments,” Hill said. “They didn’t have to be real big adjustments, but adjustments nonetheless and the kids make us look very smart.”
It was all Meigs in the third period as the Marauders were firing on all cylinders. At one point Meigs lead the Raiders by upwards of 20 points.
The Marauders closed the game out by slowing the ball down and stalling the game. Coulter Cleland’s efficiency from the charity stripe put the game out of reach for River Valley. “Coulter Cleland stepped up and knocked them all down.” Hill said. “We came out with the W, so that’s the most important thing.”
The Marauders improve to a record of 8-8 after a win over River Valley Tuesday night, putting them back at .500.
The dynamic duo of Cleland and Weston Baer did not disappoint against the Raiders. Cleland finished the game with a full stat line of 23 points, eight rebounds, and six assists while Baer complimented his performance with a 17-point game.
With Cleland and Baer coming off hot performances on Tuesday, as well as an always improving Bobby Musser; the inter-conference bout between Meigs and Athens on Friday is sure to be competitive.
