Lawrence County Confirms First Positive COVID-19 Case

IRONTON, Ohio (WOUB) — Health officials in Lawrence County confirmed the first positive case of COVID-19 in the county.
The Lawrence County Health Department announced the result Wednesday in a statement.
According to the statement, the person has not been hospitalized, did not have any recent travel history and hand no known exposure to a known case.
“We will not be releasing any additional demographic information related to this case,” Lawrence County Health Commissioner Georgia Dillon said. “We want to protect the privacy of the individual during this time of illness, and we will contact anyone who needs to know and/or take action.”
The Ohio Department of Health confirmed 704 positive cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, March 25 at 2 p.m.
The DOH makes the following recommendations to protect yourself from illness:
- Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds; dry hands with a clean towel or air dry hands.
- Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer when soap and water are unavailable.
- Cover your mouth with a tissue or sleeve when sneezing or coughing. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Avoid contact with people who are sick.
