Meigs County Confirms First Positive Case of COVID-19
< < Back to ?p=252032POMEROY, Ohio (WOUB) — The first positive case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in Meigs County.
The Meigs County Health Department announced the case in a release on Facebook Tuesday, April 7.
The patient is a male in the 50 to 59 year-old age range, according to the health department.
Health department officials ask the public to refrain from calling them for questions regarding this case while they complete a disease investigation and notify relevant individuals.
People identified as contacts of the case will be advised to self-quarantine for 14 days.
The Ohio Department of Health confirmed 4,782 positive cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, April 7 at 2 p.m.
The DOH makes the following recommendations to protect yourself from illness:
- Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds; dry hands with a clean towel or air dry hands.
- Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer when soap and water are unavailable.
- Cover your mouth with a tissue or sleeve when sneezing or coughing. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Avoid contact with people who are sick.
