Kennedy Museum of Art Virtually Showcases Emerging High School Artists

The 2020 Emerging Artists annual high school photography showcase at the Kennedy Museum of Art was already going to be a bit different from past exhibitions: for the first time the exhibition would be juried by Ohio University professors Laura Larson of the School of Art + Design and Gary Kirksey of the School of Visual Communications, and the exhibition had made structural changes to encourage participation from a wider range of regional schools.
By mid-March 2020, however, most everything was shut down to slow the spread of COVID-19, including the 2020 Emerging Artists exhibition, which is typically on physical display at the Kennedy Museum of Art. Quickly the exhibition was moved online, but will be put up whenever the Kennedy Museum of Art can safely operate again.
WOUB spoke to Kennedy Museum of Art Educational Programs Coordinator Lisa Quinn about making the switch to a virtual exhibition, and the power of community art in times of crisis in the feature embedded above.
