Quick Look: More Job Cuts Announced For Ohio University Staff
< < Back toATHENS, Ohio (WOUB) — On Tuesday evening, Ohio University released an email outlining its recent round of job cuts.
- While 81 positions are being abolished “due to divisional reorganizations” 23 positions will be rehired. Ultimately, 58 people will lose their jobs.
- This round of layoffs primarily affects classified employees; those who work as support staff and in managerial positions, etc.
- Classified workers were given a 14-day notice while administrative employees who were laid off were told their jobs would end in 90 days.
- In May, 140 union workers were laid off. Two weeks later, 53 faculty and 94 administrators were put on notice.
Tuesday’s email reiterated the university’s budget issues prior to the pandemic and apologized for the job losses and “the personal and professional impact on each of these individuals.”
