Some you know, some you don’t, but our job is to make sure. This week’s picks are for the folks whose only reference to what’s important in the last 50 years of rock music is limited to ‘The Rolling Stone Illustrated History of Rock and Roll’. The book is, shall we say…lacking. RFA is here to help. Thank you, as always, for listening.

This week’s playlist is a mish mash of music. Aaron Lee Tasjan and Julien Baker both have new releases out that I am trying to listen to via the interweb. I miss the days of when I could go to Haffa’s and actually buy copies that I could listen to at home on the big sound system or in the car while driving. Trying to do critical listening on my phone or laptop at home doesn’t quite cut it. I have also been listening to Public Enemy a lot lately, hence their appearance again on a playlist and for some reason Britney Spears has been popping up lately in the media I consume. You stay sexy A-Camp!

I’ve been entrusted with designing lectures on the topic of the history of recorded music, and I must admit I wield this power with great joy! This playlist features some of my current favorites, as well as some of my absolute favorite “low fi” tracks, because fidelity has never been the most powerful part of popular song.
