Ohio Softball: Bobcats Return Home, Win Series against NIU

Taking their home field for the first time in almost two years, the Bobcat softball team did it in fashion as they took on the Northern Illinois Huskies.
Game One: Ohio 6, NIU 5
The first game came down to the wire as it took nine innings for Ohio to bag the win.
The Huskies jumped out in the first inning scoring three runs, but Annalia Paoli answered back with a double that scored Katie Yun and Allie Englant.
The second inning was quiet for both teams before Northern Illinois tacked on one more.
The fifth inning was a break out inning for the Cats as Caitlin Fogue kicked the rally off with a single that scored Yun. Caroline Spacek doubled down the right field line scoring Paoli. Brooke
Rice finished it out with a sacrifice fly that scored Fogue.
Through the 6th inning the Huskies were able to tie it up at five.
Three innings later the Bobcats find themselves in need of a walk off and Spacek rises to the occasion with a single down the right field line that scores Paoli for the win.
Game Two: Ohio 7, NIU 2
Filled with adrenaline the Bobcats took the second game easily 7-2.
Mikenzie Vaughn hit a two-run homerun and Yun chipped in with a homerun of her own.
Mackensie Kohl took the mound in the first game. She came out with eight strikes out while
allowing eight hits.
In the second, Madi McCrady took the circle and struck out nine while only allowing five hits and two homeruns.
This duo has created quite the dynamic so far this season.
Sunday the two teams faced off once again this time splitting the games.
Game Three: Ohio 4, NIU 3
The first game was another close call that the Cats took 4-3.
All of the action took place in the first few innings as the Bobcats started off strong 3-0.
Though in the third, Northern Illinois tied up the score.
In the bottom of the third Vaughn hit a solo homerun that capped off the offensive action for both teams.
Game Four: Ohio 2, NIU 12 (in Five Innings)
The Huskies found a new wind in the final game and mercy ruled the Bobcats 12-2. Ohio struggled offensively as they only scored in the 5th inning. The Huskies however pounded out runs the whole game.
The Bobcats find themselves home once again as they take on Western Michigan March 26-28.
