Deputy Fires Gun After Suspect Feigns Having Weapon
< < Back to ?p=267918STEWART, Ohio (WOUB) — A man in Stewart, Ohio, was arrested for complicity to felonious assault Sunday morning when he made a sheriff’s deputy believe he had a weapon and forced the officer to shoot once from his gun.
When Lt. Mike Burba came to the house of 39-year-old Ryan Miller to follow up on a stolen car investigation, the deputy was informed by Miller’s family that he was upset and going to harm himself, according to a news release. Burba then searched and found the man after he fled to the woods.
Miller refused to cooperate, not putting his hands up and making a gesture indicating that he was going to shoot Burba, causing the deputy to then fire one round from his gun. Miller surrendered soon after the altercation and was arrested.
He was charged with a second-degree felony and the case has been turned over to the Ohio Bureau of Identification and Investigation for further analysis.
